Next up in the series of Who reviews, I turn to Series Six, Matt Smith's second series as the 11th Doctor.
As a whole, series six was darker than other seasons, filled with a mystery that filled the whole season-and it all started on Lake Silencio, where it would later all end...
About the Series
In this series, we get some answers that were left unanswered in the last season. In the two-part season opening, we meet the Silence, a mysterious alien race that has lived on earth for centuries, and are memory proof. As the series progresses, we find out more about the mysterious River Song, and who she killed that resulted with her being imprisoned in Stormcage. But the real mystery, besides River Song, was how the Doctor could cheat death.
The Review:
This season is the season that is hardest to explain, I think, without either sounding crazy or revealing to much to the average person (aka, non-whovian). This season also had the most mystery, I think. ( SPOILERS! What was going on with Amy, who River Song was, and why the Doctor was mysteriously killed at Lake Silencio for example). This season has been said to be not one of the bests, but I don't think there's ever been a bad season of Doctor Who. This season might not have been as good as Season Five, but it's still a good season. It had me and my parents sitting around the table some nights eating chips theorizing over what was going on. This season is one I've probably seen the most as I own the box set on DVD.
Episode Experiences
Slightly different from last time round, I'm going to add some stories of what happened when I watched some of the episodes.
The first that springs to mind would have to be in The God Complex, when-after a particularly dangerous and personal adventure-the Doctor drops Amy and Rory back on earth, at a house he's gotten them and with a brand new car that's Rory's favorite. Anyway, I had found out that Amy left a while before I watched it thanks to surfing on Tumblr that day. While the scene didn't make me cry, I did tear up.
Another scene that springs to mind a personal story from watching it would probably be the beginning of A Good Man Goes To War. I was watching it with my dad, and Amy was telling Melody that a man who come and save them, and not even an army could stop him. Instantly, I (and I'm assuming my Dad from his reaction) figured she was talking about the Doctor. Then there came the part when she says 'Because this man is your father'. We both froze in our seats and my dad said, "Did she just say-" I went "shh!" I do believe we both let out a sigh of relief when she said 'the last centurion'.
Favorite Moment of the Series:
In the happy department? That would be when River goes to visit Amy in the end of The Wedding of River Song. In the sad department? That would be when the Doctor finds out the Brig died. In the awesome department? When the Doctor beats the Silence in Day of the Moon.
Well, that's it. Next up will be Series Seven, I might not do the specials, I don't know, but I would like to wish you all an early Merry Christmas!

Tegan
