Best Of 2014 (Television)

Hello, dear readers! I hope you've all enjoyed a happy New Year's. If you haven't noticed, I've redecorated a little bit, complete with a new logo (clip art courtesy of the royalty free clipart website, openclipart). Anyway, to celebrate the new year, I'm going back in time to last year, to review the Entertainment of 2014, in this installment I'll be focusing on Television. Spoilers obviously follow below, but I'll try to put warnings on the really spoiler-y areas.

Best Television Return (Season Premiere): Doctor Who
While this could easily have gone to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., the season premiere I enjoyed the most was definitely Doctor Who's. The show returned in full force with a new title sequence, theme and a brand new (and already quite beloved) Doctor. Peter Capaldi made his first full appearance (after briefly showing up in the 50th Special, Day of the Doctor, as well as appearing at the end of Time of the Doctor). The premiere had it all: humor, heart-wrenching moments (*cough*, phone call, *cough), blasts from the past, and even a T-Rex in the London Thames! How's that for an opening?

Castle: Still Review

Today I'm reviewing one of the episodes from last season of Castle. Now, some of you may be wondering why I'm reviewing a year-old episode. Because I don't watch much new stuff. I watch maybe five shows a week, and they're usually at the beginning of the week, so I don't have much to post about, and I only go see comic-book films in theaters. So, I decided the other night to start reviewing things I've seen but never reviewed before, so here we are. Also, there's a new review layout, so there's that.

Synopsis: Written By Me
When Beckett accidentally steps on a bomb, Castle demands to stay with her to be her bomb-buddie, and attempts to take her mind off things by getting into an arguement about who liked whom first. Meanwhile, Esposito and Ryan attempt to find out how to disarm the bomb.

Review:
This episode is great. Really. It's funny, it's dramatic, it's sweet, it's slightly shocking. It may not be one of my favorite episodes, but it most definitely is a good one. The flashbacks are nice, and I normally like flashback episode, unless it's one of those annoying '48 hours earlier' ones, because I hate not knowing things! Really. It's why I'm so addicted to spoilers, honestly. Anyway, the flashbacks were perfectly done, and most of them were the hilarious scenes, however there were dramatic ones too. To be perfectly honest, this episode felt more like a '100th episode' episode than the actual 100th one, which was also in this season, called 'The Lives of Others'. Anyway, the most hilarious was Castle and Beckett's who liked whom first arguement, even resorting to *Minor Spoilers* calling and asking Esposito who liked whom first. *End of Spoilers*, but really, great episode, great use of flashbacks, good humor, good amount of drama, tear-jerking moments, a moment most Castle/Beckett fans have been waiting for, great episode.

Top 5 Favorite Television Shows

I'm back again, and this time a follow up to a previous post of mine, Top 5 Favorite Movies. The other day, I decided, 'hey, why not do one for TV shows I watch?' Now, this could prove challenging as I watch a lot of television, and I usually don't like playing favorites, but, hey-hoh, let's give this a shot.



5. Star Wars: The Clone Wars


I found out about Clone Wars as a series after I received the movie as a Christmas present from my grandparents, and on the DVD was a trailer for the series. Later, whenever I was at my grandparents at the right time, I'd watch the show with my Papa (we both actually like Jar-Jar), and I quickly came to like Clone Wars, and I'd watch it when I could, though I haven't seen every single episode of the series, it's one of my favorite shows and I love it. My favorite characters from the show are Ahsoka, Ventress and Rex. I was mad that they cancelled it-and still am-but it's still one of the best cartoons out there.

4. Mythbusters 


I've watched this show for....well, a really long time. Since I was a little kid, really. Anyway, it's a great show, I watch it non-stop, and it's great for learning. (Really, I learned Newton's Laws Of Motion from this show), it's a great show-even if they kill Buster every episode (crash-test dummy for those who don't know who Buster is). The show has plenty of explosives and guns and all that, and plenty of science in it as well. One of my favorite shows. Awesome.

3. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.


 Of course I had to add this to the list; why? Because Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is one of my favorite shows (even if I nearly forgot to add it to this list, heh). I counted down the days till the show would premiere, and I've been watching ever since. The show's great, and I like everyone on the team, and I love that they're all a family-not by blood, but still-but my favorite characters are Coulson, Skye and Fitzsimmons (though Fitzsimmons are beginning to be my main favorite characters of the series). The show has plenty of mystery in it, and used to be mostly humor, but nowadays it more drama than comedy, though it does still retain it's humor. One of my favorite shows, and I've come to love it nearly as much as the two other shows ahead of it.

2. Castle 


 Castle is one of my favorite shows. I started watching back when it was in it's second season, and I started watching it one night with my grandparents. I watched the second episode of the second season with them, and thought that it was a good episode. Later, I went back and started watching it with them full time. Later, I managed to get my mom to watch it, then one day we bought the first season, and I put it on, and then my Dad got hooked, then we bought season two, and then...well, you get the point. Anyway, Castle is one of my favorite crime/mystery shows, though it's not a drama show, it has a lot of humor, though some episode have more drama in them than others. The show contains one of my favorite relationships on TV (ship, whatever you want to call it), and that would be Castle and Beckett (or Caskett), but it's a great show, all the characters are lovable, and there's very few characters that I don't like.

1. Doctor Who


What else could be at number one besides my all-time favorite show, the show that I owe my name to, that show in question is Doctor Who. I'd try to state the whole 'how I came to watch the show' thing, but I've already said that, so, there we go. It's one of my favorite shows, I watch it non-stop (I do mean non-stop), and I quote lines from the show non-stop. Doctor Who is a science fiction show, and is 50 years old (51 this November). It was brought back in 2005 after being off for at least a decade or better.

Castle: Smells like Teen Spirit Episode Review

Thank heavens! Castle has returned, and it returned with a whopper! Onto the review!

Overview:
When two teenage girls witness their best friend's death over a video-chat, Castle and Beckett are thrown on the case, but when the only suspect is an outcast who was picked on by the victim and her friends, not to mention beginning to show signs of telekinesis, Castle believes that they've stumbled into a real life 'Carrie'.


Review:
Castle finally returned, and with it came this brilliant episode. Castle and Beckett's banter is always hilarious, especially when Castle believes something paranormal has something to due with their case, and, of course, Ryan believing Castle's theory as well is hilarious as well, especially when Esposito is always skeptical (like Beckett). While I may not have been able to guess the killer, the episode was still brilliant, and packed a surprise because none of us guessed the killer. The ending was sweet, and the episode will probably be one of my favorites from this season.

Castle: Series Review

Back again with another review!

Castle is my second favorite show (Doctor Who being the first), and it's one of the best television shows that has to offer in my opinion.

Now, I know the name is mysterious, and doesn't tell much about the show itself (before I started watching, I thought it was a drama series of some sort), but it's a crime show that centers around famous mystery author, Richard Castle, who ends up shadowing Detective Kate Beckett for inspiration for his next set of novels.

Overview:
When Richard Castle finds himself dealing with writer's block, fate lands him meeting up with NYPD Detective Kate Beckett, who ends up being the inspiration for his next set of novels, and he ends up shadowing her on some of the strangest and toughest crimes New York has to offer.

Review:
As I've stated above, Castle is one of my favorite shows. I watch it non-stop-by that I mean everyday because I own three of the seasons on DVD. Okay, so I'm a bit biased by reviewing  a favorite television show of mine, but really, it's a good show.

Castle comes on ABC, Mondays at 10:00pm
