Agent Carter: Hollywood Ending

Talk about a season finale! Once more, Agent Carter proves that it's one of the best shows with a cast of absolutely wonderful actors and characters. Filled with humor, tension and excitement, the season finale certainly proved that this show is worthy (and deserving) of a third season.

The episode concludes the season's ongoing story line with Whitney Frost in a way that was both clever and terrifying for viewers, as it jeopardized the lives of many loved characters.

The love triangle between Peggy, Jason and Sousa was finally put to bed as well in a way that handled beautifully and I'm thankful they didn't cop out on that storyline, but gave Peggy the right to make her choice-which she did.

The episode saw the return of Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper), who always makes the episodes a lot more fun, especially with his dynamic with Peggy and Jarvis.

Filled with laughs, some moments that left me a teensy bit teary-eyed, moments that made me scream at the tv in terror and later elation, the finale is definitely one of the best episodes of the season, bringing back the humor and dynamics that made season one and ending on a happy note with Peggy and Sousa finally getting together.

And then of course, you have that shocking ending. I definitely need a season three to find out what happened, thank you very much ABC.

Agent Carter: The Edge of Mystery/A Little Song and Dance Review

Following the cliffhanger of last week's two hour extravaganza, last night's episode was all heartbreak, action and shocks and turns. But what else could you expect from the two episodes before the season finale?

I won't lie. I was in tears majority of the episode. Why? Bloody Edwin and Ana Jarvis. If you thought Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. was painful, last night Agent Carter gave some of the most emotional, heartrending scenes I've ever had the pleasure of watching.

James D'Arcy knocked it out of the park last night with his performance as Jarvis dealt with the aftermath of Ana being shot-and unexpected consequences that followed the injury. The emotions were raw, charged and felt real during the episode; each actor provided a stellar performance, but James D'Arcy and Hayley Atwell absolutely stole the show with their emotional scenes, especially with their argument in the desert in A Little Song and Dance.

Speaking of song and dance, I was honestly shocked at how well done the dream sequence was. While one could argue it didn't really match the tone of the rest of the episode, it was a fun scene altogether and saw the long awaited return of Angie Martinelli (Lyndsy Fonseca) as the entire cast put on a fantastic show, complete with singing and an epic dance between Peggy and Daniel (and yet another almost kiss....perhaps the third time will be the charm) that was quite frankly amazingly done and had me shipping them even more (which I didn't think was possible).

The scene was also done as a way of showing Peggy's impossible place in the love triangle between her, Jason and Daniel, as well as giving us another glimpse at her brother Michael with an emotional scene as the two talked about Peggy being in the field and how Michael knew that it was what she wanted more than anything.

With plot twists, betrayals, heartbreak, gasp worthy moments and more shipper squeals than I can count, these two episodes were absolutely fantastic and beautifully done. Honestly, I can't wait to see what next week has in store for us.

Rating: 5/5 (I would also argue 10/10)

Agent Carter: Season One Review

Marvel, ABC
Now that Agent Carter's first spectacular first season is officially over (alright it has been for awhile, but I just haven't gotten around to reviewing), I figured it'd be the best idea to review it! Onto the review, as I always say!
Synopsis:
After her friend and former War ally, Howard Stark, is framed for the illegal selling of weapons, Agent Peggy Carter finds herself in the midst of a conspiracy that could lead her to discover secrets that may be better off left unknown.
Review:
Taking place nearly a year after the events of Captain America: The First Avenger, Agent Carter pits Peggy against her sexist co-workers (well, with the exception of Sousa), the loss of Steve Rogers, and attempting to uncover the truth behind the conspiracy behind Howard Stark's framing. During this time, she's teamed up with Edwin Jarvis, Howard's butler.
The show has plenty of love able characters: Peggy, Jarvis, occasionally Howard, Angie and Sousa, for example. While other characters are a little less love able *coughs, Thompson *cough*, it works mostly in favor of the show. The show has more ties to the Marvel films that maybe Agents of SHIELD, as it features more characters from the films (no spoilers) then AOS (though that may change in the future). The show features plenty of humor, typically from Jarvis, and his friendship with Peggy is definitely one of the best features of the series, often leading to hilarious scenes between the two of them.
The mystery itself is sort of solve able by the audience, and there is quite a lot of foreshadowing in previous episodes to future episodes that once you catch it, you can't help but go 'I'm such an idiot for not catching that'. The show also showcases Peggy's love for the then thought dead Steve Rogers, and typically in the most heartbreaking of ways.
In all, the series is a fantastic, savvy and heart-filled tv show that is fitting of it's main character, and it'd better get a second season.

4/5

Agent Carter Review

The highly anticipated ABC mini-series Agent Carter, spawned from the Marvel one-shot of the same name, premiered last Tuesday to our screens, re-introducing us with fan-favorite Hayley Atwell, as well as introducing us to brand new characters.
The show follows Peggy Carter in a world where she doesn't seem to be needed, and trying to fight the good fight, even when the guys in the SSR aren't willing to let Peggy out on the field...or do anything that isn't sit at a desk. However, when Howard Stark requests Peggy's help on a top-secret case, her life gets a lot more interesting...and dangerous.
Agent Carter feels like Marvel's version of a noir mystery....and it is. The 1940 era fits perfectly for not only the continuity of the show, but also the tone of the show. Not to mention the use of songs that were either from the '40s, or made to sound like it work excellently along with it.
While the show focuses on Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell), it also re-introduces Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper), who starred alongside Atwell in Captain America: The First Avenger, as well introducing brand new characters into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, in the forms of Peggy's fellow agents in the SSR, as well as Edwin Jarvis (James D'Arcy), Stark's butler whom is requested to help Peggy in her mission. Jarvis and Peggy's friendship works wonderfully in the story, though at the rate I wouldn't call it much of a friendship, but does have the potential to eventually reach that. Peggy's also got a friend in a young waitress Angie, who doesn't know anything of Peggy's spying, but the two's friendship is also wonderful. The show makes multiple references to Steve Rodgers (Chris Evans), which could do well for the show if they dropped the constant references. One every once and a while will do. Anyway, the mystery itself already has me eager to find out what happens next, which is probably a good thing. In short, the show is funny, fun, heart-wrenching at times, exciting and suspenseful. And it's certainly nice to have a comic-book show featuring a female lead.

New Agent Carter Teaser Trailer Released

Agent Carter, the eight part series featuring Captain America: The First Avenger's Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter (who quickly became a quick fan favorite in the Marvel fandom), now has a new teaser trailer released, with far more footage than the last one.

The series premieres January 6th on ABC, and will briefly take Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s place while it is on winter hiatus. The series follows the popular one shot, also titled Agent Carter, which ended with Peggy joining Howard Stark to found S.H.I.E.L.D. Once more, much like the season two trailer of AOS, the trailer has some really catchy music-which just might end up on my playlist!

What do you think of the trailer? Are you going to be watching? Comment below!
