Doctor Who: Flatline Review

Back again with yet another Who review! By tomorrow, I'll be caught up in reviews! Anyway, onto
the review!

Synopsis:
When the Doctor and Clara land in Bristol, they hit a small problem-literally; the TARDIS has been shrunk. With the Doctor trapped inside, Clara is forced to step in the Doctor's shoes, and attempt to figure out why people are mysteriously disappearing, along with trying to figure out who shrunk the TARDIS and why.

Review:
This was one of the episodes that I was looking forward, admittedly-the idea of the TARDIS being shrunk? And Clara being forced to carry around the Tiny!TARDIS around in her purse, the Doctor trapped inside the TARDIS? The thought alone was a funny idea. I imagined the Doctor going mad with boredom stuck in Clara's purse all day. However, the episode ended up being quite creepy. In fact, I'd go as far to say this ended up as quite possibly my second favorite episode this season. The monsters were very creepy, and the chase scenes were really done well, and there was some definite scare moments in the episode as well. It had a clever resolve, using a method from a former episode. The side cast were mainly like able, with the exception of the older fellow, he wasn't very like able, but that was probably intentional. Rigsy was a good, like able character, and filled the role as 'companion' to Clara, as she was forced into the Doctor's shoes. You'd think the Doctor wouldn't have much to do, or wouldn't be in the episode much, but he was. He was in constant contact with Clara, and it really worked. This was another brilliant episode, with a brilliant story line, brilliant characters, and mega-creepy monsters.

4/5

  1. Now this is one of my favorite episodes of the season! Seeing Clara playing the role of the Doctor was a lot of fun, and 2D creatures are one of my favorite monsters since the Silence. Plus, the tiny TARDIS was so much fun. Excellent review Tegan!

    1. Definitely agree-one of my favorites as well. It was a fun little twist, it's always fun when the companions are the ones that have to solve the mystery, not the Doctor. The 2D creatures were definitely creepy (as are the Silence) and are definitely great monsters. I loved the tiny TARDIS, and it was so much fun! Thanks!
