The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Review

Screencap from the trailer (be warned, the trailer has major spoilers in it)
Whoo! I just came back from watching the Amazing Spider-Man 2, and, despite some negative reviews from others, I loved it. I'm totally biased, though as I love the Web-Head, he's my favorite Superhero ever. But was this movie good? Hmm....yes. Yes it was. It made me laugh, it made me cry, it was wonderful, but it did have it's issues as well.....
(Spoiler Free Review Follows)
Warning: This movie has a ton of flashing lights, especially during one of the scenes, towards the end of the film. So, just be warned.

Synopsis:
While Peter Parker is trying to protect Gwen Stacy, and feeling guilty about not abiding her father's wishes, an old friend returns in the form of Harry Osbourne, and a new foe appears in the face of an old fan....But can Spidey save the ones he cares about the most?

Review:
I personally loved the movie, but I guess I could see why some people wouldn't like it (not really, but then again, biased!), but to me, it was awesome. Was it amazing? Eh....well, the one problem I found with The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (besides making me cry) was that it was long. During one scene of the movie, I was thinking, 'It's got to be near the end, right?', and a movie shouldn't do that to you (I had this problem with Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, boy was that movie long, and boy am I going off topic), but that seems to be a problem with the Amazing films. But besides that, I had no issues with the movie (except, again, making me cry). I like that it's got nice nods to the comic (JJ, Dr. Symth...Dr... Smyth....Smnyht...oh forget it, and Felicia), and the scene at the end (you know the scene) was just done terrifically, throughout that whole scene my heart was pounding, and I was just going, 'no, no, no, no, no', and when a movie does that to you, you need to applaud it (and people did! They applauded at the end of the movie.). I half expected Peter to say the line from the comics. I like that they added the Bugle as well. I enjoyed that, maybe in the next movie they'll have the Bugle.
Was the movie as good as the first movie I went to see this summer (Captain America: The Winter Soldier)? No. Sadly, no, it wasn't as good. But, as a Spidey movie, and not comparing it to any of the other films? It was darn good. Honestly, in my honest opinion, I loved it. Honestly. Brilliant, even if it made me cry.
(I'm not putting the trailer in this review. Spoilers FAR TOO MUCH).

Overview:
4/5

Trailers:
Godzilla-looks okay, but I'm not sure if it'll be great. I know it'll be a loud movie, though.
X-Men: Days of Future Past-okay, they didn't play the trailer I would've, the most recent one is the one that sold to me it'll be a good movie, but I think it'll be good for the most part.
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes-A very surprisingly short trailer. But, hem, not my kind of movie to be honest.
And, I'm not even going to mention the Jumpstreet movie because that just looked ridiculous.

  1. Whether or not someone will enjoy the movie really seems to depend on whether or not they like Spider-Man as a character. I am glad that you enjoyed the movie as well!

Also thanks again for the link!

    1. I suppose, though I can't really imagine why anyone would hate the Web-Head..Thanks! I had loads of fun seeing it, though I'm not fond of all the flashing lights in the movie, they should've put a message up about that somewhere. Especially during the *Spoilers* first Goblin scene *End Spoilers*

  2. Where the previous movie failed, this succeeds more than well, doing most things right, even if it wasn't perfect. Good review Tegan.
