Warning: This Post Holds Spoilers. If you have not watched Series Five, Six, or Seven Part 1, and do not like Spoilers, look away. I'll try to keep it spoiler lite. But with Series Six, this will be hard.
Series 5:
My Opinion:
I admit, I wasn't holding much hope that this season would be good..little did I know that that season would bring me my favorite regeneration of the Doctor, or my favorite Companion: Amy Pond.
I began my adventure into Season Five with Time of Angels and Flesh and Stone, and it wasn't long after that I watched The Eleventh Hour for the first time...
I began to watch more and more episodes, until Series Five was over. I was glad that Amy wasn't leaving after a full season, which was the amount Martha and Donna lasted, and that she, Rory, and River were coming back in Series/Season, Six.
Overview of Series Five:
It all began in a garden, a garden that belonged to seven year-old Amelia Jessica Pond, the girl with a crack on her wall: Until one night, a magical blue box came crashing into the garden, and Amelia met the Doctor. Together they attempted to figure out what the crack was, but he had to leave because the engines were phasing. He promised to be back in five minutes, and returned twelve years later....
Amelia, now known as Amy, is a grown woman with best friends-Mels and Jeff- and a boyfriend-Rory-, and has grown since to believe her 'Raggedy Doctor' was simply a story she created when she was a kid, who was living with her Aunt. When the Doctor returns, breaking into her house in the process, she knocks him out with a cricket bat, and, within minutes, she finds herself alongside the Doctor, and Rory, battling a space alien known as Prisoner Zero-a creature who can morph into any creature. After this, The Doctor disappears, and returns for Amy two years later, meaning she waited 14 years for him. She accepts his offer to join him, only thing is it's the night before her wedding....
Favorite Episodes:
Eleventh Hour
Vincent and the Doctor
Time of Angels
Flesh and Stone
The Big Bang
Series 6
My Opinions:
This was a series I'd been counting down to. I watched some of the Season Five marathon that day, read what was going to happen in the first five minutes, and yet found myself breathless during the scene at the lake.
I had already known who River Song was, so it wasn't much of a shock to me.
So far, Series 6 was alright, but I only have a couple favorite episodes.
Overview of Series 6:
It's been two months since Amy and Rory Williams have seen the Doctor, and when they receive a letter, in a TARDIS blue envelope, they realize the Doctor wants to meet them. When the arrive in Utah, 2011, they find themselves alongside the Doctor and River Song, the mysterious woman they meet when they first started travelling with the Doctor.
After a picnic, an Astronaut appears out of a lake, and kills the Doctor. Later, they meet the Doctor once more, but a younger version of the Doctor. Meanwhile, this younger version of the Doctor must uncover several mysteries of his own: Who are the Silence, What is the Question, What's going on with Amy, and Who is River Song? And more importantly: Who killed him?
Favorite Episodes:
The Impossible Astronaut
Day Of the Moon
A Good Man Goes To War
Let's Kill Hitler
Series Seven: Part 1
My Opinions:
I was truly annoyed by how long it took for a new season: The Season Finale of Series Six had been in October of 2011, plus the Christmas Special, and we didn't have a new episode until September 1st. That's almost a YEAR without Doctor Who. So, yeah, little annoyed by that.
I admit, I only have two favorite episodes in this series. I was really holding out hope for Power of Three, but it held nothing for me. It was...I can't really explain it. I had been expecting more. But at least we met the Brig's daughter. With The Angels Take Manhattan, I was expecting to be sobbing, like I was crying at the end of Doomsday, but I only teared up with TATM. It was a more happier ending than I expected: sure they died, but they lived a long life, didn't they? I think I was more sad after the episode aired: When you realize, hey, the Ponds are gone! But then, you think, hey, We get to meet a brand new Companion! So it's sad, but accepting.
Overview:
In his last adventures with his beloved Ponds, the Doctor faces Daleks, Dinosaurs, Cyborgs, Cubes, and the deadliest of all: The Weeping Angels.
Favorite Episodes:
The Asylum of the Daleks
The Angels Take Manhattan
Don't forget, Doctor Who returns Christmas day for 'The Snowmen'
