Staff Of Serapis Review

Hello! I'm back again, with a new review for a not-so-new-book-anymore (technically it was a short story): The Staff of Serapis written by none other than Rick Riordan. Some of you will know that last summer I took a dive and started reading Percy Jackson, and then later onto the Heroes of Olympus. This year I intend on tackling the Kane Chronicles (which I still haven't finished). Anyway, when I found out he was writing a short story featuring Annabeth Chase and Sadie Kane (two of my favorite characters) that would  serve as a sequel to the first crossover he did (The Son of Sobek, which featured Percy Jackson and Carter Kane), I was excited and couldn't wait to read it. And I finally got to. Onto the review!

Synopsis:
On her way home from an interview, Annabeth Chase discovers a strange new monster; when curiosity gets the best of her, she finds herself in the midst of something far more stranger than she first thought.

Review:
I must say, I particularly liked this short story. It was nice, funny, had plenty of action in it, and Annabeth and Sadie worked very well together. While, admittedly, I read this before finishing the Kane Chronicles (which I'm still reading, I keep getting distracted), it didn't diminish the quality, although you'd probably have to some basic knowledge of the Kane Chronicles/Percy Jackson lore to get a better grasp on the story-line and references. I'm not quite sure when this takes place during each series, but I imagine this is set after the events of the Heroes of Olympus series, I'm not sure. All I know was that it was a really good read, and I'll definitely be reading it again!

Percy Jackson and the Olympians Book Series Review

Hello! I'm back, and with a brand new book review, too!
Percy Jackson and the Olympians is a book series written by Rick Riordan, and is about a 12 year boy, Percy Jackson, who finds out he's a Demi-God.


Overview:
12 year old Percy Jackson doesn't have the best of luck-he never stays at the same school for more than a year, he's dyslexic, and has ADHD.
    But then he finds out he's the son of a Greek God, and he's suddenly thrown into a series of events, all leading up to a bigger threat than the last. With his best friends Grover and Annabeth, and other friends from Camp Half-Blood, he's ready for any adventure.


Review:
I had the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series finished within a month-five books in a month. Well, six, because I took a small break between the second book to read Confessions of a Murder Suspect by James Patterson. The books themselves are good, the chapter titles are often hilarious and entertaining, and this is a must read book series.

Note: The book series has been converted into Graphic Novels, and also two films (though they are not book accurate)

Haha, Miss Me?

  Okay, it was too much to resists using a quote from Doctor Who as the title (see The Crimson Horror). Anyway, I'm back with a brand new logo! While I've been gone I'm been working on my photoshop skills, and I've made a decision: favorite character list has been cancelled. Don't fret, because more reviews are coming soon! Reviews that weren't quite as in-depth as I wanted will be re-posted more in depth.
       In other news, I've started a personal Tumblr blog, you can find that here. Other than that, posts won't be up every day-school's back.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief Review

I've heard a lot about Percy Jackson, so I finally decided to read the series. I just finished reading the first book last night, so here goes.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan.
Overview:
When 12 year old Percy Jackson  finds out he is the son of a Greek God, he is thrown into an adventure of a lifetime.
    He, along with his friends Annabeth Chase and Grover, must recover the master lightning bolt, which has been stolen.
      Soon, he and his friends are running from evil and trying to get the bolt before World War III begins.

Review:
I loved this book, you can't put it down. It's highly enjoyable and I can't wait until I start the next one!
