Doctor Who: Face the Raven Review

Shocking, fast-paced and heartbreaking are three of the best ways to describe Face the Raven, the first of three parts that are the season finale of season nine. As we all well know,  Face the Raven has been promoted as Jenna Coleman's final episode as Clara Oswald, but did it give the Impossible Girl the ending she deserved? And how does it lead up to the finale? Well the answer to the latter would be spoilers, but as I always say; onto the review!

Synopsis:
The Doctor and Clara find themselves in a street that shouldn't exist that's filled with aliens-all calling for their friend Rigsy's head for a crime he didn't commit. But who did it? And who will face the Raven?

Review:
Strange but good is a great way to describe Face the Raven. Despite originally coming off as quite odd, the plot resolves itself in an incredibly clever way but also leaves open more mysteries for the next two episodes.

As well as kicking of the season finale, the episode gives us a final farewell to Clara Oswald. It also reintroduces Rigsy from Flatline and Ashildr from The Girl Who Died and The Woman Who Lived. I nearly thought I would make it through the episode, but then of course, I didn't thanks to Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman's suburb acting.

At least my water-proof eyeliner was put to the test (miraculously enough, it made it).

The episode is definitely a fitting end to Clara Oswald, and continues this season's almost non-existent over arching story (that we know nothing about).

Face the Raven is fantastic and suburb in every way. It can make you smile and it can make you laugh, and the build up to the final moments are executed perfectly that it makes everything even more heartbreaking.

How will the two-part finale continue this story? At this rate, who knows! But I'm definitely going to be watching!
