Selfie: Series Review

Well, I've managed to marathon all 13 episodes of Selfie (my Mom absolutely loves the show), and figured I'd write a review on it. Onto the review!

Synopsis:
When she realizes that she may be 'friended' on social media, Eliza Dooley has no real friends. Determined to turn around her image, she enlists the help of a fellow employee, Henry Higgs,
to help her.

Review:
Despite the fact that the trailer didn't make the show look all that good (even I didn't think it'd be too good after watching the trailer), upon watching the pilot episode, you're pleasantly surprised that the trailer basically made something good look....well, not good. The show takes off quickly, giving a possible 'will-they-won't-they?' tone of relationship with Henry and Eliza (affectionately nicknamed 'Heliza' by the Selfie fandom), and John Cho and Karen Gillan's chemistry is good even when they are bickering, arguing, being friends, or even leaning towards something more. The show is also surprisingly more clean than most shows, nowadays, anyway. The only complaint I have is that when someone uses a very strong cuss word, it bleeps and blurs the mouth, which just seems out of place, and could be easily avoided (something they also did in last night's episode of The Librarians). Thankfully, this only happened one time. Besides that, the two main characters, Eliza and Henry, are surprisingly likeable, though perhaps not socially inept. The show is also hilarious, leaving me giggling quite a lot during all the episodes. Although the show was unfairly cancelled (despite having good ratings for a new show), the remaining episodes were aired on Hulu. The final episode was ended in a bittersweet montage, with Henry promising he'd get it right 'next time'. If only....

Overview:
4/5
