Doctor Who: Kill the Moon Review

I'm back, and it's going to be a busy few days; I'm going to be doing reviews for the episodes I missed Doctor Who. Anyway, let's get onto the review!

Synopsis:
The Doctor, Clara and Courtney head to the moon, only to find out that the moon's put on weight, and is a threat to the Earth. But when they uncover the mystery of the moon, the human race is forced to make a decision for their future.

Review:
I've heard a lot about this episode. Some love it, others hate it. To me? Well, I'll admit it's no Day of the Doctor, but it's hardly another Love and Monsters. The beginning of the episode is definitely creepy, and one part I liked was the small portion of the 1st person POV they did with one of the astronauts. It really added suspense. The fact that they didn't show the monster of the week until about 15 or 10 minutes into the episode sort of reminded me of the classics (with the first part's cliffhanger being the revelation of the monster of the story). The 'germs' as they were called were definitely scary looking (I don't like spiders, okay?), but weren't featured very much. The episode was mainly about Clara, Courtney and the Astronaut Lady, who's name escapes me (I'm dreadful with names, honestly). The Doctor for once refuses to meddle with this one, saying it is a decision for mankind to make (technically he was right, it was our choice, not his. And he doesn't really meddle with moments like those-usually). The end of the episode was kind of expected, even if you knew it was coming (aka: Me) because I could already tell by Clara's behavior that the Doctor was about to be told off again. I don't think I've seen Clara that cross before, nor have I seen Twelve look so upset at having someone be mad at him. The scene with Danny was nice, and lead well into the next episode, which featured Clara debating on rather or not to leave the Doctor. Is it a stand-out episode, a classic? Not really, but I don't think it's a episode worthy of Mystery Science Theatre 3,000 either.

Overview:
4.5/5

  1. Personally, I hated the episode unfortunately. While I agree it is not as bad as Love and Monsters, it is still one of my least favorite episodes in a very, very long time. Good review, and thanks for linking to my review!
