Agents of SHIELD: A Theory

Firstly, I talk to myself. A lot. I'll talk to anything really, even a wall. I'm not insane, I promise, I just sound it.
Anyway, when I talk/think, I normally end up on two subjects: Doctor Who or Agents of SHIELD. A while back, I ended up on SHIELD.
Now, I also theorize a lot, and this includes a lot of pacing around the house, hands clasped behind my back, ect. And the other day, I was thinking about why Coulson was writing that stuff on the wall, and why it took so long for it to kick in (unlike Garrett who started to write it nearly immediately). And I came up with a theory, one which I want to share with you guys today. (Note: I've already posted this theory to my tumblr blog)
 Alright, so here goes.

Now, remember what Coulson on the video tape said in Nothing Personal? He said the only people to survive the process with GH-325, or TAHITI, were the ones who had their memory wiped, which is what they did to Coulson, replacing his memories of a place called Tahiti-It's a Magical Place. But, Coulson started to speculate something was wrong with him, and, with the help of May, eventually ended up with answers about Tahiti. It was originally a project for the fall of an Avenger (which it was used for), but Coulson, who was working on the project, found that it was too dangerous to use, and wished to resign from the project altogether. Later, after his death right before the Battle of New York, Fury used that project to bring Coulson back.
So what's all this got to do with anything? How does it affect Coulson?
Well, let's take a look at Garrett's reaction to GH-325. After he took it, he quickly started to loose it (I think it was the first time I've ever agreed with anything Traitor Ward believed). Why? Why did it take so quickly on Garrett to start writing that weird stuff, when it took months for Coulson to?
Because Garrett remembered. He remembered taking GH-325, or Hydra's version of it at least. He knew what was in him, and because of it, he went mad. Or, to quote Coulson: "No, John, this is you being a psychopath."
But what's this got to do with Coulson? I promise I'll get to the point. Because of the fact that Coulson now knows what happened to him, (and was starting to remember the process) GH-325 started to work exactly how video-Coulson said it would: making people loose their mind.
Basically: Because of the fact that Coulson now knows/remembers TAHITI, he's loosing his mind, just like Garrett did.
The only thing I can't figure out is this: why were those scientists in Eye Spy writing that alien writing? How could they have known what it looked like? That's an answer I'm sure we're bound to get next season. And another question: does GH-325 have anything to do with Skye's parents? Who knows.
Admittedly, there are problems with my theory-like how would they help Coulson? I don't think the writers' would erase Coulson's memory again, because that'll leave us at sqaure one again. Only time will tell, I suppose.

  1. Intriguing ideas, and I think you are right! If Skye is an Inhuman like I think she might be and that blue alien is a Kree, it would make sense that the blood did not affect her because the Inhumans are created by Kree. Great post Tegen!

  2. I've heard the theory that Skye is an Inhuman, but I don't really know what those are, so I didn't know they were created by Kree. Interesting. Thanks!
