Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.: The Story So Far

Alright, got my Yoohoo, The Majestic Tale (of a Mad Man With a Box) playing, I'm ready to review Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., the first half of the first season of the first series, in honor of its' return tomorrow-ABC, 8:00pm-Allons-y!

Overview:
Agent Phil Coulson is granted a team of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents to investigate the strange and the unknown. Tagging along with them as a consultant is Skye, a mysterious hacker who works with the elusive 'Rising Tide'.

The Story So Far: Spoilers!
Skye, a hacker (hacktivist as she puts it) for the hacking group known as the Rising Tide, finds herself in with S.H.I.E.L.D. when they find a real life superhero in the form of a man named Mike Peterson. Later, Phil Coulson (head of the S.H.I.E.L.D. team who captured Skye) offers her a chance to work with them. Soon, they find out about a strange program named Centipede, and find out that a mysterious person called 'The Clairvoyant' is interested in them. Meanwhile, Coulson attempts to figure out his mysterious revival from the dead, as Skye attempts to learn the identity of her parents.

Review:
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is growing to be one of my favorite shows, and I've enjoyed it since the very first episode. While many say it's not a very good show, I honestly don't get why, as I've been marathoning through the series waiting for the next episode's arrival, and I haven't found anything wrong with it. (Though the loss of ratings each week could be because of the fact that ABC put the show on at the same time as NCIS, CBS, which I also watch). The characters certainly have developed in time, but most of them are subtle, except for Fitz's growth, I think. When the show started out, he was one of the fun characters, but as the show has gone on, he's grown into a more serious character, though is still funny. I like all of the team, but my favorite characters are Coulson, Skye and Fitzsimmons-I have nothing against May and Ward though, I like them too-but the best part of the show has the be the team's chemistry, and you really have that family feel between the characters, even if they're arguing, playing games, celebrating a job well done, or saving each other. I think the moments that really explain this well is the end of 'Repairs', all of 'The Magical Place', and the ending of 'T.R.A.C.K.S.' are the episodes or scenes that I feel represent this the most. The show is normally light-hearted, but since it's come back, it's dropped most of the light-heartiness, and is finding it's balance between drama/comedy, and I really think it's working. Previous episodes (before The Magical Place) were really heavy on the humor, but it's been dialed back some (though the show is still humorous). I'm really looking forward to tomorrow night's episode, and I can't wait to see what happens, and to see just how far Coulson is willing to go to save Skye.

My Favorite Parts of the Show:
1. Coulson and Skye's father/daughter relationship. I really enjoy it, and it vaguely reminds me of the father/daughter relationship Gibbs and Abby have over on NCIS. AOS's father/daughter relationship has come a long way though, and has had it's ups and downs.
2. Grant's Big Brother Protectiveness. I always enjoy Grant's protectiveness of the team, especially towards Fitzsimmons and Skye (seen best in 0-8-4 and F.Z.Z.T.). You really get the feeling that Grant is the big brother type of character towards the team in the protectiveness area, or that's the feeling I get, anyway.
3. Fitzsimmons. I love Fitzsimmons chemistry, they're the dynamic duo of the show, always hilarious, and just a brilliant duo. I especially love the friendship they have with Skye, and together, those three are my favorite team up of the show.
4. The Whole Team. The team has that family-chemistry that you really get (as I stated before), and it doesn't matter what situation they're in- fighting super-powered beings, Asgardians, alien viruses; celebrating a job well done, pulling pranks, playing games, or about to lose a loved one-you know that even though they've had the ups and downs, they'll pull through, and they've come a long way, but they're a family. That's what a show/movie should do. It needs to introduce you to a team of people who are completely different from each other, but have a chemistry so great, that you understand that they're a family-not by blood-but still a family. That's what all the best shows have (Castle, NCIS, ect.), and that's what it needs.

Notes:
Yes, I've changed my blog. Again. But I just haven't been able to find that spark, yet, and I think I've found it. I'm also adding something on my reviews for episodes, which will be strictly for two-parters, which will be 'Previously On [insert show title here]'. So, there's that. Anyway, that's most of the news, now, if you excuse me, I have some History homework to read!

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns tomorrow night at 8:00pm on ABC.
