Hello Old Friend, and here we are, the last review for Doctor Who until December. Sad right?
By the time you read this, Amelia Jessica Williams (formerly Pond) and Rory Arthur Williams have left the Doctor, much to his heartbreak. And now, old friend, here is my review:
I admit, I gasped a lot during this episode, and teared up when Amy & Rory (Rory being three times, Amy twice) died. Granted, they did live into their late, early in Rory's case, eighties. But what really broke my heart? The way the Doctor cried when Amy disappeared. I was reminded of the scene in The Power Of Three where he said he was running towards them, before they fade from him. They faded, literally, when they turned around from the Angel. Even more heartbreaking when you realize that he wasn't just crying over the loss of his friends; he was crying because he lost his family, again.
I did, however, like the ending. Him going back to little Amelia, who waited all night. I've always, sort of, wondered what that scene. I really wanted that scene not to be a dream. And it wasn't.
Not to mention before Amy and Rory got zapped back into the past, they were going on a Family Outing. Excuse me for a moment-NO!!!! WHY, WHY, WHY?!?!?- ahem, any how, my grade on the episode:
Scary-Check
Heart Breaking-Check
Tear Jerking-Check
Best Episode of this season-Nope
Sorry. I just...I cannot like this episode. Though I do....but not as much as I love The Eleventh Hour, Vincent and the Doctor, A Good Man Goes to War, The Impossible Astronaut, Day of the Moon, and Let's Kill Hitler. But if I had to choose which episodes were my favorites of this season it would go to:
Asylum of the Daleks
&
The Angels Take Manhattan
I'm bad to the bone!
So, just to clarify, I was going to post this yesterday, but sadly, couldn't. Besides, I think I needed an extra night to think of what I'd say for this review.
Well, that's it Whovians! See you at Christmas! (Before then with trailers and news too)
Also sad: The Doctor kept Amy's glasses!!!
-Tegan
Favorite Quote: "Just you wait til my husband gets here!" -River Song
Favorite Scene: When they were heading to go to their family outing. Minus, you know, Amy & Rory getting zapped into the past...
Goodbye Amy Williams.
Bye-Bye Pond.
