Pixels Review

credit: x, Columbia Films
Another day, another review-this time for Pixels, the movie featuring loads of arcade games and an awesome soundtrack. As I always say, onto the review!

Synopsis:
When aliens believe a video of Earth's old arcade games is a declaration of war, the Military enlists the help of a small group of old arcade champions in order to save the Earth from the impending alien attack-in the shape of old video game characters.

Review:
I'll be honest with you. I thought the trailers looked stupid, but watching the film changed my mind. It was actually a funny movie, filled with fun references (though I only recognized two games and that was Galaga and PacMan) and an awesome soundtrack (Queen!). The film manages to give us some like able characters, and are fleshed out enough that you actually care if they survive.
There's also some pretty fun action sequences, but the thing the film strives on is it's humor, and it is spot on. It truly is what makes the movie work so well, and without it, the movie would've been dead in the water.

8/10
