Well, the Christmas Special finally aired last week, and we were finally given answers about the mystery that has been circulating since the start of Series 8: will Jenna Coleman stay for Series 9? Onto the review!
Synopsis:
It's Christmas! Or is it? The Doctor and Clara find themselves in a science base in the North Pole, where dream-inducing monsters are lurking around every corner....but what's real?
Review:

Though in any other show, it'd be hard to take a Christmas special that features Santa Claus riding Rudolph seriously,
Doctor Who managed it in spades. The special focused on the Doctor and Clara once more, most importantly about how the last season ended and where their friendship currently is at the moment. The episode managed to have plenty of hilarious moments (
There's a horror movie called Alien? Oh, that's offensive. No wonder you're always getting invaded.), heart wrenching callbacks to previous episodes (the Christmas cracker), and featured a much more cheerful-but still completely snarky-Doctor. The episode managed to fill us with suspense, and worry as it appeared our heroes wouldn't make it out alive....then it got us suspicious enough to try and figure out what was real and what wasn't. In all, the episode was a perfect Christmas Special, and it was certainly a highlight of this season, which started and ended with brilliant episodes in my mind.
